MHC welcomes new member to its Board of Governors
Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) Board of Governors is happy to announce its appointment of Terence Kowalchuk to its public membership.The role of MHC’s Board of Governors is to provide strategic direction and support to the institution, while representing the interests of the public, students, and employees. Each member serves a term of three years.
Kowalchuk carries demonstrated experience in finance, leadership, and politics. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant who currently works as the chief finance officer of Weddingstar and has held leadership roles with the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.
“The board works together to make important decisions to support college activity, and I believe Terence’s experience will be a complement to our team,” says board chair, Sarah Mackenzie. “Terence’s background demonstrates his commitment to our community and we look forward to working with him as we support Medicine Hat College.”
Kowalchuk’s leadership reaches beyond his work experience, and he has been involved in many local organizations, including the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association, the Medicine Hat and District Canada Day and Cultural Festival Association, and the Medicine Hat Soccer Association.
He has also been directly involved in Medicine Hat College, holding roles on the Business Administration Advisory Committee and the Assistant Coach for the Rattlers Men’s Soccer team.
“It is a profound honour to be appointed to the Medicine Hat College Board of Governors,” says Kowalchuk. “I believe a thriving college is the heartbeat of our community, and this role is especially meaningful to me as my own children are part of the college community. My goal is to ensure we continue to provide the high-quality education necessary to develop our local talent, while creating an environment that encourages young people to move to, and ultimately build their lives in, Medicine Hat.”
