Dr. Reagan Weeks named 2026 Honorary Applied Degree recipient

Medicine Hat College (MHC) is pleased to announce Dr. Reagan Weeks as the recipient of its 2026 honorary applied baccalaureate degree in recognition of her leadership in education and significant contributions to learners and communities.
Weeks is superintendent of Prairie Rose Public Schools (PRPS) and has spent more than two decades advancing education in school communities throughout her career. An MHC alumna, she later earned a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Business Administration, and a Doctor of Education.
Her career has spanned classroom teaching and senior leadership, but her impact is most evident in the opportunities available to students. Under her direction, PRPS has expanded dual credit programming and introduced career-connected learning in areas such as the trades, aviation and athletics, giving students hands-on experience and clearer pathways beyond high school.
“Dr. Reagan Weeks’ nomination highlighted her innovative approach and her commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for learner development,” says Sarah MacKenzie, chair of the MHC Board of Governors. “Her work has strengthened connections between K-12 and post-secondary education and continues to make a lasting impact.”
Weeks’ commitment extends beyond the classroom. She serves as a director with the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society and contributes to initiatives that support social well-being. She is also involved in the Beej Project, which supports learning and research opportunities and expands access to mental health resources in the community.
“I’m deeply honoured to receive this recognition from Medicine Hat College, which played an important role in my own educational journey,” says Weeks. “This honour reflects the collective efforts of educators, students and community partners who are committed to supporting learners and creating opportunities for success.”
MHC’s Honorary Applied Degree process recognizes individuals with strong community connections through a structured and confidential nomination and selection system. Nominations are reviewed by the Honorary Applied Degree Awards Committee and the General Academic Council before being submitted to the Board of Governors.
Honorary degree nominations are accepted from the community every January, and the college presents the award at its annual convocation ceremony in June.
