Ashley is an honours graduate of the Practical Nursing Program at Medicine Hat College, Brooks Campus, where she completed her diploma in 2011. She began teaching part-time with the college in 2016 and transitioned into a full-time instructor role in 2024 after several years of clinical practice.
Since graduating in 2011, Ashley has worked full-time at the Brooks Health Centre, gaining experience in Acute Care, Labor and Delivery, and the Emergency Department. Ashley continues to remain active on a casual basis and enjoys using her diverse background to bring real-life examples into lectures and labs, helping students develop a stronger understanding of clinical experience.
Ashley’s teaching philosophy is centered on creating a safe, approachable learning environment where students feel respected and supported. She values mentorship and collaboration and encourages critical thinking through fun and interactive learning. She believes this approach helps students demonstrate a deeper understanding of the content while also fostering teamwork and building confidence.
Committed to lifelong learning, Ashley always enjoys taking on new learning challenges and is always seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys playing darts, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.
