Her doctorate is from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.Dr. Panagopoulos is well-versed in and experienced at teaching a variety of philosophical topics. At Medicine Hat College, she teaches ethics and moral philosophy, as well as empirically minded Philosophy. Her research is focused on the dissemination of knowledge, as well as knowledge acquisition of other people’s mental states and how it relates to their moral behavior.
Dr. Panagopoulos loves teaching anything and everything philosophy. But one of her favorite lectures is Descartes’ Meditations. Here she gets to perform a philosophical magic trick. First, she makes the world you think you know disappear, by showing you how your experience and reason can be doubted. Then, she can make it reappear, by showing you there is one thing you cannot doubt and know for sure. Through questioning what we think we know, we become assured of what we know. This educational tactic demonstrates the value of philosophy and sums up Dr. Panagopoulos’ approach to teaching. It’s about the journey, not the destination.
