Beehive Management
C4i’s collaboration with Sweet Pure Honey explores the potential benefits of hive insulation on productivity. This initial trial compared a traditional hive with an insulated hive to assess whether a more comprehensive study is warranted.

This preliminary investigation focused on evaluating temperature regulation and colony performance between insulated and uninsulated hives. The insulated hive demonstrated earlier colony expansion, a more stable brood zone, and increased honey production. These findings suggest that insulation may help bees conserve energy and improve overall hive efficiency—indicating strong potential for broader research.
In partnership with Sweet Pure Honey, C4i combined applied research with field-based expertise to ensure the study reflects real-world beekeeping conditions. This collaboration enabled meaningful data collection and practical insights into hive management strategies.
The results of this trial provide a compelling foundation for expanding the study. By engaging additional partners and producers, future research can explore hive insulation more deeply, with the goal of developing scalable strategies for local producers to enhance colony health and honey yields.
