The Medical Office Assistant Certificate program consists of 5 individual courses, offered in-person at Medicine Hat Campus.

You have the option to take the full certificate or take individual courses to build the skills you need most.

Courses include:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Productivity and Workplace Communication
  • MS Office Basics: Word, Excel & File Maintenance
  • MS Word: Level 1
  • Procedures and Ethics of the Medical Office

Additional requirements include: 

  • Standard First Aid with Level C CPR
  • Keyboarding / Skill Building from www.typing.com (demonstrate 30wpm with 90% accuracy)

Course requirements are similar between the Medical Office Assistant and Hospital Unit Clerk programs. The courses are scheduled so you can complete both certificates, if you wish.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

Required Materials:

  • Medical Terminology textbook purchased through the MHC Bookstore

To earn a Medical Office Assistant Certificate of Proficiency, students must complete required courses with a minimum mark of 'B'. 

Students must apply for the certificate upon successful completion of all required courses.
