Continuing studies unveils new winter/spring course catalogue

Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) continuing studies department recently released their winter/spring 2014 course catalogue which includes a variety of courses, certificates and diplomas that aid in career development.  The programs are designed to create flexible learning conditions so that students can work towards their aspirations, while continuing to remain in the workforce and contribute to our region’s evolving economy.

Programs are offered in a variety of areas including: trades and industry, business and leadership as well as computers and technology.

“Our team works closely with the community to ensure our courses are meeting the emerging priorities of Canada’s sectors,” said Shannan Hurlbut, program administrator for continuing studies. “Our instructors are often local, and are professionals in their fields. They share real-world knowledge and tips and tricks of the industry. “

Hurlbut highlighted some of the certificate programs currently being offered through continuing studies: “We partner with Mount Royal University, University of Alberta and the Supply Chain Management Association to offer the respective programs: project management, occupational health and safety and supply management.” Free information sessions will be offered to the public on these courses in January and February to help students learn potential career options as well as get an overview.

Supply Management Diploma

“Continuing studies is primarily recognized as a department that offers general interest, including photography, arts and food and beverage,” said Hurlbut. “However, we want to emphasize that there are also a great opportunities for professionals looking to upgrade their skills and walk-away with a certificate.”
