College names interim president

The Medicine Hat College board of governors has appointed Robert McCulloch as interim president, effective Wednesday, October 2.
Dr. Robert McCulloch (PhD, University of Saskatchewan; MS, University of Washington; BSPE, University of Saskatchewan) is a consultant and an Adjunct Professor of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Regina. He recently retired after 10 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST). At the time of his retirement, SIAST served over 26,000 students in programs and applied research activities that touched every sector of the economy. Prior to his term of office at SIAST, Dr. McCulloch held several academic and executive positions during a 27 year career at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He holds a Chartered Director (CDir) designation from McMaster University and the Conference Board of Canada. Dr. McCulloch has been a member of many academic and industry related boards including the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, the Saskatchewan Labour Market Commission, the Saskatchewan Health Services Utilization and Research Commission and a term as board member and then chair of the board of the Canadian Bureau on International Education (CBIE). He was recently appointed to the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) governing board.
Dr. McCulloch is also the proud recipient of several public service awards such as the Canadian Red Cross Distinguished Service Award, the Commemorative Medal for the Saskatchewan Centennial and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
“We are pleased to welcome Robert as our interim president,” said board of governors’ chair, Don Bruce. “He brings a wealth of experience to our institution, and we are confident he will provide strong leadership while our presidential search continues.”
Medicine Hat College has enlisted The Geldart Group, which specializes in executive searches for public institutions, to assist in the search for a president.
