August 9, 2016
The Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers are pleased to announce that Clayton Nielsen has been appointed the head coach of the women’s basketball team and full time instructor in the science and health department effective August 29, 2016.
Nielsen received his Bachelors of Physical Education from the University of Alberta and his Masters of Applied Science-Coaching from the University of Queensland-Brisbane. He comes to MHC from Red Deer where he has been working as a regional educational coordinator and kinesiologist at CBI Health. Clayton was the head women’s basketball coach and a kinesiology instructor at Keyano College in Fort McMurray from 2009 until 2011.
“Rattlers Athletics is very happy to have someone with Clayton’s experience join us as the new head coach of the women’s basketball program. Clayton’s vision of total student-athlete development matches that of Rattlers Athletics; academics, athletics and community. We are also thrilled to have an experienced college coach, with a high energy level, join us,” says Terry Ballard, manager of sport and wellness.
Nielsen brings many years of coaching experience at the high school, provincial and collegiate level. Coach Nielsen will be a valued addition to both Medicine Hat College and the Rattlers as he leads the women’s basketball program into the future.
