College foundation has new name, support for students remains

February 9, 2022

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Medicine Hat College (MHC) Foundation has coordinated fundraising efforts for over 30 years, serving thousands of deserving students with funding, programming, and resources in support of their educational journey.

But with an eye to the future, the foundation is undergoing a transition. As voted by MHC’s Board of Governors last fall, the foundation is dissolving to align with other institutional changes at the board level, which include the installation of sub-committees to support college activity.

Effective July 1, 2022 the MHC Foundation will become the Community Engagement Office.

“What will not change is MHC’s commitment to supporting student success and the community of giving created by our donors,” explains Jennifer Kerslake, director of community engagement at MHC. “The college’s ability to fundraise and accept donations, charitably receipt eligible contributions, and apply for alternate funding such as grants all remains the same.”

Kerslake gratefully acknowledges the dedication and passion of past and present foundation board members who have given freely of their time and energy over the years.

“It is because of their efforts that Medicine Hat College has been able to help students access education, overcome barriers and achieve their dreams for so many years. We value their contributions, which have made the difference in the lives of many and look forward to building on that success as the Community Engagement Office.”
